Statutorily-Created Boards and Commissions

Statutorily-created boards and commissions are created by the Colorado General Assembly, the governor, and/or federal statutes. Members are usually appointed by the governor and/or General Assembly leadership. Colorado Child Abuse Prevention Trust Fund Board

The Colorado Child Abuse Prevention Trust Fund Board (COCAP) promotes primary and secondary prevention programs that are designed to prevent childhood trauma and maltreatment before it occurs, lessen the occurrence of child abuse and neglect, and mitigate the impacts of adverse childhood experiences to reduce the need for state intervention through child welfare involvement.

Colorado Interagency Coordinating Council (CICC)

The CICC provides advice to Early Intervention (EI) Colorado. It is a required body under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).  

Early Childhood Leadership Commission 

and ECLC Subcommittees and Working Groups 

 

The ECLC serves as Colorado's federally-recognized state advisory council on early childhood. The Commission works to align and coordinate services for people who are pregnant and children birth through age 8 and their families.

Rules Advisory Council and Rules Advisory Council - County Subcommittee

The Rules Advisory Council (RAC) serves as an advisory body to the CDEC Executive Director to review and provide recommendations on proposed administrative rules that govern the programs, functions, and services overseen by CDEC. The RAC ensures that rulemaking decisions are transparent, equitable, and aligned with the needs of children, families, and early childhood professionals across Colorado.

  • The RAC County Subcommittee provides specific guidance on rulemaking decisions that directly impact county departments in their administration of early childhood programs

Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) Allocation Committee

The CCCAP committee is a forum for Counties and the State to work collaboratively to determine a transparent, equitable method for dividing the available CCCAP allocation among Colorado’s 64 Counties. The committee is co-managed by the State and Counties. 

Family, Friend and Neighbor (FFN) Advisory Council 

The Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) Advisory Council advises the Department on FFN providers' needs and provides a voice and representation to the FFN providers and associations that support them. The FFN Advisory Council will make recommendations to inform policy that expands support to this workforce sector and helps them to develop a sense of community and engagement.
